HOSPITALITY
Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia
Wujil Heritage Hotel is a historical preservation and adaptive reuse hospitality project in Central Java, Indonesia, interpreted through a modern colonial design language rooted in Indonesian heritage and Dutch colonial influence. The architecture preserves the formal character of the original heritage setting while introducing contemporary hospitality functions, interiors, and amenities within a refined hotel environment. The design emphasizes a restrained palette of white and black architectural elements, terracotta roof forms, and rhythmically arranged Romeo-and-Juliet balconies, creating a façade composition that feels both elegant and timeless. Classical proportions, repetitive window bays, and carefully scaled detailing reinforce the heritage character, while modern interventions allow the property to function as a contemporary hotel. The project was developed through a coordinated multidisciplinary approach integrating architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior design considerations. Modern building systems, circulation, life-safety requirements, and guest amenities were carefully incorporated without overpowering the historic character. The result is a hotel environment that balances preservation, visual identity, guest comfort, operational efficiency, and long-term building performance.
